Brian O’Brien is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal’s Corporate Performance Improvement (CPI) practice in Chicago. Mr. O’Brien’s primary areas of concentration are finance and accounting solutions, performance improvement, merger integration and enterprise transformation.

With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. O’Brien has driven performance improvement in a variety of industries, including insurance, manufacturing, consumer products and retail. He currently leads the relationship with Cardinal Health, where A&M has completed over 20 projects. Other clients include BBA Aviation, Hamilton Sundstrand, UCI-FRAM, Zebra Technologies, Pitney Bowe’s, Lowe’s, Lexmark, Best Buy, Ralcorp, Sysco Foods, Nationwide, Kemper, Country Financial, Reynolds Packaging Group, Pactiv, Graham Packaging and NiSource. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. O’Brien spent five years as Managing Director at BearingPoint, where he led the National Strategic Sourcing practice and was head of the 600-person Chicago office. He also led the Allstate account for four years, where he completed more than 50 projects and built a Central Region Insurance practice. Mr. O’Brien began his career at Andersen Business Consulting in 1990 and became a Partner in 2001. 

Mr. O’Brien earned a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has been both a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Purchasing Manager.
