Elizabeth Hanke is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Phoenix. She specializes in insurance coverage litigation, allocation and valuation models for complex insurance disputes, and services related to mass tort litigation featuring large amounts of complicated data. Ms. Hanke’s primary area of expertise is analyzing, interpreting, and quantifying insurance policies on cost-recovery projects involving asbestos, environmental, abuse, and other types of product liability claims on behalf of policyholders.

With more than 30 years of experience, Ms. Hanke has developed and implemented cutting-edge insurance allocation and economic modeling tools that have been used to recover billions of dollars, provided expert testimony on insurance valuations, and served as a strategic advisor in complex litigation and settlements. She focuses on connecting different data sources to facilitate shared understanding and provide data-driven solutions for clients.

Ms. Hanke’s notable assignments include: supporting insurance recovery in major bankruptcy proceedings involving sexual abuse and talc claims; developing a cross-platform database and process for managing claims and insurance for a per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) defendant; and providing liability forecasts for a variety of long-tail claims. She has worked with clients across a range of industries, including consumer products, energy, manufacturing, nonprofit organizations, pharmaceuticals, and transportation.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Hanke spent over 20 years with KCIC in Washington, DC, where she most recently served as Senior Managing Director. In this role, she led the design and customization of KCIC’s proprietary insurance allocation model, provided expert testimony, and guided litigation strategy through advanced analytics and financial modeling. Earlier in her career, she held roles at DataWise, Inc., Swidler & Berlin, and Howrey & Simon.

Ms. Hanke earned a bachelor’s degree in economic theory from The American University and a master’s degree in economics from Arizona State University. She is a founding member of the American Bar Association’s (ABA’s) Women in Insurance Network and a member of the ABA Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. She has co-authored numerous industry publications and frequently speaks at national legal and insurance conferences on complex coverage issues, such as the Bermuda Form and allocation modeling.
