Doug McIntosh is a Managing Director and Canadian Practice Leader with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring & Turnaround in Toronto. He is a member of the Executive Committee for A&M's commercial restructuring business in North America.

A recognized leader in the Canadian restructuring industry, Mr. McIntosh brings over 40 years of turnaround and restructuring experience. He has been involved in several cross-border engagements, including concurrent Companies' Creditor Arrangement Act (CCAA) and Chapter 11/Chapter 15 filings and court-appointed receiverships.

Mr. McIntosh has worked with clients in various industries, including real estate, retail, manufacturing, energy, media, pulp and paper, construction technology, transportation, building products, hospitality and agriculture. Some notable public engagements include acting as CCAA Monitor and financial advisor of Target Canada Co., Comark, Express Canada, and InterTAN (Source by Circuit City), serving as financial advisor to GolfTown/Golfsmith, IBI Group, FirstOnSite and Arclin Canada and to the senior secured lenders of Just Energy, Sears Canada, Canwest Publishing, Bowater Canadian Forest Products Inc. and Lone Pine Resources Inc.

Mr. McIntosh played a lead role in the Canadian insolvency legislative reform process that was carried out from 2000 to 2007 and that led to the Canadian Parliament making foundational changes to the CCAA and BIA statutes currently in use. Mr. McIntosh was named a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada in 2014 in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the profession. He led the A&M team that received the International Turnaround of the Year Award from the Turnaround Management Association for its work for the IBI Group.

Mr. McIntosh earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from Queen's University. He served on the Advisory Board of the Queen’s Smith School of Business for 22 years and was Board Chair from 2001-2004. Mr. McIntosh was a member of the Board of Directors of the Insolvency Institute of Canada for six years and is a Past President of the IIC. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional, a Canadian Licensed Insolvency Trustee, and a member of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.
