Fahad Bin Fares is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Saudi Arabia. He has nine years of experience in the field of taxation. Fahad specializes in providing audit, tax, accounting, and advisory services.
Fahad’s notable experience includes: serving as Lead Auditor for large taxpayers at the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA); representing ZATCA in the Chamber of Commerce; serving on a working committee to investigate the registration of investment funds for the purposes of Zakat and tax, as well as to develop the Zakat regulations for investment funds; and representing numerous foreign and joint stock companies in discussions with ZATCA regarding tax and Zakat assessments or issues.
Prior to joining A&M, Fahad established and served as Managing Partner of AlFares Chartered Public Accountants, where he advised on and executed tax-efficient corporate restructurings to align companies with initial public offering readiness requirements. He also worked on securing transfer tax exemptions for real estate developers and funds and led substantial efforts to obtain value-added tax (VAT) refunds for eligible people. He held key roles with ZATCA, contributing to regulatory initiatives and representing the authority in various committees and stakeholder engagements.
Fahad earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from King Saud University, Riyadh. He is a Certified Public Accountant with the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA); he was also recognized as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s first VAT specialist.
