Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announces the latest expansion of its EMEA Debt Advisory team with the appointment of Dr. Heinrich Kerstien as a Managing Director, effective immediately. 

Based in Frankfurt, Dr. Kerstien spearheads the practice’s expansion across DACH. The launch meets growing demand from financial sponsors and corporates across the region for A&M’s support with their debt financing requirements. 

The senior hire builds on sustained growth of A&M’s Debt Advisory team and follows recent senior hires in Dubai, France and the UK. The practice now counts six Managing Directors and seven Senior Directors across EMEA in A&M’s offices in Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Manchester and Paris. 

Dr. Kerstien joins A&M from Clearwater – where he spent eight years as a Managing Partner responsible for debt advisory and private equity coverage across the entire German-speaking region. Before that, he spent 12 years at Rothschild & Co – where he served as European Co-Head of the debt advisory practice and member of the German Executive Committee. He founded the debt advisory practices at both. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in Deutsche Bank’s Leveraged Finance and Debt Capital Markets Origination team in Frankfurt and London. 

With more than 30 years of debt advisory experience, across his career Dr Kerstien has advised on more than €40 billion of debt on behalf of private and public corporate clients as well as private equity houses. He brings expertise in a variety of debt products such as loans, bonds, private placements (Schuldscheine), asset-backed facilities, and ratings in a variety of situations including refinancings, acquisition financings, and restructurings.
