James Irvine is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Infrastructure and Capital Projects practice in the Middle East. He specializes in construction advisory consulting and has spent over a decade in the region helping clients deliver complex capital programs across the full construction life cycle. James’s primary areas of concentration include project reviews, CapEx review, cost optimization, strategic PMOs, construction claims, and the turnaround of distressed developments. 

James has advised sovereign wealth funds, private equity funds, real estate developers, and global clients on high-profile giga and mega projects across the Middle East.
His notable assignments include:

  • Delivering client-centric solutions across some of the world’s largest giga and mega programs, with aggregate CapEx values exceeding $500 billion
  • Advising Public Investment Fund and related special purpose vehicles on major giga and mega development programs in Saudi Arabia
  • Spearheading the design and setup of strategic PMOs to drive enhanced performance of critical mega projects during capital strategy and capital execution for governments, sovereign wealth funds, and private sector clients

Prior to joining A&M, James was the entrepreneurial driving force that established and led the growth of Currie & Brown, a global construction consulting firm, in Saudi Arabia. There, he supported clients across the real estate, hospitality, entertainment, infrastructure, transportation, rail, data centers, and oil and gas sectors.

James earned a bachelor’s degree (hons) in quantity surveying from Glasgow Caledonian University and an MBA (Distinction) from Bayes Business School, London. He holds Fellowship status at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is a two-time award winner for his contributions to advancing the growth of RICS and professional standards in the Middle East.
