Howard Steinberg

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Steinberg worked as Managing Director and Global Head of Tax Restructuring with Houlihan Lokey. He advised debtor companies and creditor groups on complex restructuring and M&A, developed and implemented tax-efficient structures; and launched and co-led the clean energy tax credit brokerage and financing practice.
Previously, Mr. Steinberg worked with KPMG, serving most recently as Tax Partner and Global Head of Restructuring, Tax and Legal. He advised numerous debtor companies and served as an expert witness for the Toys "R" Us bankruptcy. His notable restructuring engagements (debtor companies) include Toys “R” Us, Purdue Pharma, American Airlines, The Gymboree Corporation, Basic Energy, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, Walter Energy, J. Crew, Hostess Brands, JCPenney, Westinghouse Electric, Bumble Bee Foods, CIT Group Inc., ResCap (formerly GMAC) LLC, Avaya, Brooks Brothers, Katerra, Inc., Zohar, Centric Brands and Frontier Communications. His notable creditor tax engagements include Purdue Pharma and SVB Financial Group.
Mr. Steinberg earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and an MBA (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Columbia University School of Business. He is registered with FINRA (New York) and holds Series 79, SIE and Series 63 certification. Mr. Steinberg is a licensed CPA in New York and a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA). He is a frequent speaker at industry functions and has been a guest lecturer at Georgetown University Law Center.
