Shane Horgan is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Transformation Services in London. He brings more than 25 years of experience working with consumer goods and industrial businesses. Mr. Horgan has worked with a range of corporate and private equity clients on several of the largest transactions in consumer goods.

Mr. Horgan’s select notable assignments include working with Unilever pre- and post-deal on the separation of its global tea business (excluding India and Indonesia) ahead of its successful sale to CVC. This included identifying ~€40 million of value creation across separation adjustments and cost reductions, which were built into EBITDA, and an additional €44 million of supply chain benefits.

Additionally, Mr. Horgan worked with Unilever pre- and post-deal on the separation of its global spreads business ahead of its successful sale to KKR, which involved leading the management team through the separation process; identifying €85 million of upsides from both separation adjustments and value creation; and working with management to implement the separation plan post-deal.

Furthermore, Mr. Horgan worked with Unilever to separate its North American pasta sauce business ahead of its successful sale to Mizkan; worked with PepsiCo to turn around the separation of its Tropicana business in Europe, enabling a successful sale to PAI Partners; supported the BAT board following its decision to exit its Russian operations following the war in Ukraine; led the synergy development and planning work for BAT ahead of its acquisition of RJ Reynolds for $49 billion; led the buy-side operational diligence and value creation on Nestle Skin Health for EQT ahead of its successful acquisition of the business for $11.5 billion; and worked with PAI throughout its investment in Froneri, the global ice cream business.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Horgan was a partner in PwC’s Delivering Deal Value team, where he ran the Retail, Consumer and Leisure team. Previously, he worked as an operator with Unilever in ice cream, frozen food and personal care across all aspects of the supply chain.

Mr. Horgan earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Bath and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Cambridge.
