Román Álvarez

Mr. Álvarez Varea specializes in business diagnostics, the development and implementation of restructuring plans, cash flow forecasting, and contingency planning for corporate turnarounds and restructurings. He has collaborated with organizations including the Comisión Nacional Bancaria y de Valores (National Banking and Securities Commission), Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (Ministry of Finance and Public Credit), Banco Nacional de México (BANAMEX), INFONAVIT (Institute of the National Housing Fund for Workers) and URBI Desarrollos Urbanos.
Mr. Álvarez Varea also provides advice to non-distressed companies on developing financial projection models and executing operational reorganizations. He serves as Chief Restructuring Officer for companies in distress, working with clients in various sectors, including banking, leasing, home building, shipping, agriculture, business services and manufacturing. Mr. Álvarez Varea has designed and managed debtor support programs, overseeing large-scale financial restructurings and enhancing operational efficiencies.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Álvarez Varea was the sole Administrator of Naviera Naranja, a SPV in the shipping industry focused on oil and gas services in the Gulf of México.
Mr. Álvarez Varea earned a BBA from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), a bachelor’s degree in electro-mechanical engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónomo de México (UNAM), an MBA from the Cornell Johnson Graduate School and a master’s degree from the Cornell School of Operations Research & Industrial Engineering.
