Jim Marlatt is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal's Corporate Transactions Group in Denver. He specializes in leading enterprise-wide transformations and complex transaction programs, including carve-outs and integrations.

With a rich background in optimizing cost and performance during transitional periods, Mr. Marlatt often leads North American segments of global projects. He works with clients across various industries, including finance and professional services, healthcare, retail, industrials and education.

Recently, Mr. Marlatt led the sell-side separation management office for two U.S. dairy brands owned by a global company based in Paris, managing their carve-out and sale to a private equity company. This intricate international separation involved establishing a $1 billion standalone entity by filling approximately 200 roles; setting up 800+ contracts; and establishing Transition Service Agreements and co-manufacturing agreements, all while identifying and offsetting dis-synergies.

Previously, Mr. Marlatt guided a U.K. based global professional services firm through the acquisition of a U.S. based healthcare consulting company being carved out from a U.S. healthcare technology company, overseeing diligence through integration planning. He led the development of the current, Day 1 and future state operating models and cost structures including TSAs, and supported readiness from acquisition to integration.

Mr. Marlatt also played a pivotal role in the $80 billion merger between two global industrial gas companies, leading U.S. divestitures of a $3.3 billion share deal and three ~$100 million asset sales that were crucial for antitrust approval. His responsibilities encompassed preparing carve-out documentation; driving organization sizing and selection; assisting separating and re-establishing customer and supplier agreements, corporate functions, plants operations and distribution assets; and ensuring continuity through TSAs and product supply agreements.

Mr. Marlatt earned a bachelor's degree in finance and an MBA from Notre Dame’s Mendoza School of Business. At Notre Dame, he competed on the men's lacrosse team as a two-time captain and three-time final four participant.
