Daniel Heywood

Mr. Heywood’s primary areas of concentration are contract disputes, insurance claim preparation and litigation, professional negligence disputes, post-acquisition disputes, class action litigation, insolvency litigation and internal and regulatory investigations. He provides a unique value proposition given he spent five years of his career at a top-tier law firm leading their in-house forensic accounting and investigations division.
Mr. Heywood has worked with clients across a range of industries, including aviation, construction, consumer goods, financial services, healthcare, mining, real estate, shipping and transportation. His experience includes preparing preliminary calculations of claim size or financial exposure, providing strategic advice with respect to claim preparation, developing or defending causation arguments, critiquing claims and expert reports and evaluating settlement offers.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Heywood spent two years with the Financial Advisory group at PwC Australia, where he most recently served as Partner. There, he led a multi-year rapid response investigation followed by a remediation project across 15 counties. Mr. Heywood also performed numerous compliance due diligence projects for international organizations investing in Australia in relation to issues such as anti-fraud, anti-bribery and corruption and ethical sourcing (modern slavery). He provided expert evidence (both written and oral) to Court in Australia.
Mr. Heywood earned a bachelor’s degree in physics (honors) and a master’s degree in applied commerce (concentration in accounting) from the University of Melbourne. He is a member of the Institute of Charted Accountants in Australia and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
