Ashley Scheele is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Houston. She serves as A&M’s License Advisory Services National Practice Leader and leads teams across the US and Mexico, overseeing license transitions, entity registrations and deregistrations, and compliance programs for clients across a diverse range of industries.

Ms. Scheele brings deep expertise in navigating licensing complexities resulting from distress, M&A transactions, and large-scale internal restructurings. A Six Sigma Green Belt, she is known for managing high volumes of regulatory changes under accelerated timelines. With more than 25 years of Big Four public accounting experience, Ms. Scheele has developed a broad, multidisciplinary skill set and successfully built and led two national practices. 

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Scheele served as the National Practice Leader for EY’s License Compliance Services group, where she built and scaled the practice, leading teams across the US and EY’s talent hub in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  

Previously, Ms. Scheele served in PwC’s Financial Services practice in New York City, providing tax consulting and compliance services for alternative investment funds. During this time, she contributed to significant tax law developments by leading a task force that collaborated with the US Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service, resulting in the issuance of a revenue procedure benefiting alternative investment funds. 

Early in her career, Ms. Scheele specialized in multistate tax issues, state income tax audit defense, and restructuring engagements for multinational corporations. Ms. Scheele’s work has been published in several editions of Tax Alert and twice in the Journal of Taxation of Financial Products. She is a frequent presenter at national conferences, including the annual conferences of the American Petroleum Institute, the Federation of Tax Administrators, the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and Avalara. Ms. Scheele also spoke at the Concordia Americas Summit in Bogotá, Colombia, on how tax differentiation can drive innovation.  

Ms. Scheele earned a BBA in accounting and a master’s degree in taxation from Texas A&M University. She is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas and an active member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA). Ms. Scheele also serves on the Advisory Board for Child Advocates in Houston.
