Steven Schmoll

Mr. Schmoll’s primary focus is on renewable energy/energy transition taxation, including tax equity and tax credit monetization transactions, as well as all tax aspects of the IRA. He is also an expert in qualified opportunity zone transactions and general partnership taxation.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Schmoll held roles with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel in Washington, D.C., and the national tax department of both EY and KPMG. He also led all tax planning efforts for NextEra Energy Partners (NYSE:NEP), an Up-C YieldCo with a multi-billion dollar market cap.
Mr. Schmoll brings extensive experience in tax planning for the entire lifecycle of renewable energy development, including begin construction planning, project financing, including tax equity financing and tax credit monetization, and post-close M&A activity.
Mr. Schmoll earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Southern California, a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and an LLM in tax from New York University’s School of Law. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar.
