Scott M. Peoples is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Philadelphia. He specializes in accounting and forensic investigations, as well as disputes with complex economic and financial issues.

With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Peoples’ main areas of concentration include commercial litigation, forensic investigations, valuation, financial advisory in restructurings and bankruptcies and special financial and economic analysis. He has prepared and presented solutions to counsel, senior management, government agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Peoples has consulted across industries, including banking, coal mining, credit cards, financial services, generic pharmaceuticals, real estate and telecommunications.

Recently, Mr. Peoples has been engaged in advising the committee of unsecured creditors of a real estate investment firm in a Chapter 11 matter by pursuing fraudulent transfers and aiding in the recovery of assets; investigating whether executives manipulated financial performance to avoid additional plan participant contributions at one of the nation’s largest pension funds; calculating lost profits on behalf of a distributor as a result of an improper termination of a supply agreement; assisting the financial advisor to the SunEdison Litigation Trust with evaluating and resolving complex claims; and serving as financial advisor to the unsecured creditors committee in a Chapter 11 matter involving a chain of retail pharmacies.

Previously, Mr. Peoples assisted one of the nation’s largest banks to identify sales practices risks in different business segments; served as a financial advisor to a multi-employer pension fund that was one of the largest unsecured creditors in a Chapter 11 proceeding; and refuted damages asserted against one of the top credit card brands in the world after a contract termination by one of their issuers/acquirers.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Peoples worked at a global accounting firm assisting in high-profile investigations, purchase price disputes and accounting matters related to fraud. He started his career with a global consulting firm, where he worked on numerous large litigation matters and forensic investigations.

Mr. Peoples earned a BBA (concentration in finance) from Drexel University. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Valuation Analyst.
