April Kirksey is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Birmingham. She is a member of the Real Estate and Environmental Economics practice.  

Ms. Kirksey brings more than 18 years of experience advising clients throughout the United States on large claim litigation and consulting matters. She specializes in the development and administration of settlement structures including institutional control programs (ICP) and Value Assurance Programs (VAP), real estate damage analyses related to environmental contamination property claims, geographic information systems (GIS), and complex contingent liabilities estimation.

Ms. Kirksey’s experience includes multiple engagements forecasting asbestos claim liabilities and numerous real estate-focused engagements arising from environmental property value disputes. She has significant experience in claims data analysis, evaluating class certification criteria, analyzing real estate market trends and developing comprehensive overviews of proposed property class areas.  

Ms. Kirksey has advised on alleged property value diminution and loss of use and enjoyment due to air, groundwater and soil contaminant claims, evaluated thousands of claims arising out of class action settlement administrations and value assurance programs, developed specialized GIS visuals and claim and property databases to aid in matters such as settlement negotiations and opposition to class certification, and spearheaded detailed research and subsequent processing of land use covenants within an institutional control program framework. 

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Kirksey spent two years with Accounting Economics & Appraisal Group, LLC in Birmingham, serving most recently as a Senior Consultant. 

Ms. Kirksey earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Alabama. She holds a salesperson real estate license in the state of Alabama.
