James Pring is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s CFO Services team in London. He brings more than 28 years of experience working with management teams to identify, plan and implement performance improvement opportunities. His primary areas of specialism are finance transformation, shared services/global business services (GBS), outsourcing, operational restructuring and target operating model design. Mr. Pring has worked with clients in various industries, including retail, fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), automotive, business services, technology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.

Mr. Pring has led work on several GBS projects, including strategy, design and implementation for finance, HR, procurement, IT, supply chain and sales support functions. His projects have included ConvaTec (finance and HR functions), Dentsply Sirona (finance, HR, IT, sales support and regulatory functions) and Amec Foster Wheeler (finance and HR functions). This work included business case development (20 – 40% cost efficiency as well as effectiveness) and implementation of both captive and outsourced services.

Mr. Pring led finance strategy and target operating model design for carve-outs and integrations for clients including IBM Watson and GSK, including transition and implementation of Day 1 solutions to enable independent operations. He was engaged by Tesco to assess their existing shared service centre, including organisation design, and setting up an FP&A centre of excellence and a new service management team for GBS. He also supported Oracle Fusion implementation, including UAT resources and help desk services.

Previously, Mr. Pring led finance transformation programmes at companies including AstraZeneca, Corteva and Iveco. This included finance function assessments and benchmarking, restructuring, analytics consulting and finance technology implementation (such as Blackline) support to deliver cost reduction, service improvement and process standardization.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Pring spent eight years as Senior Partner with Genpact. He was a founding member of their CFO Services team, with a primary role in developing their CFO and GBS methodology. Mr. Pring also spent more than 20 years with PwC and KPMG in their U.K. restructuring and finance transformation businesses.

Mr. Pring earned a master’s degree from Cambridge University. He is a Chartered Accountant with ICAEW.
