Mr. Chen’s primary areas of concentration include providing advice in forming and executing M&A strategy, deal structuring from commercial perspectives, valuation analysis, project management coordination and negotiation support. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including automotive components, industrial equipment and parts, consumer products, chemical products, pharmaceutical and textiles.

With more than 18 years experience, Mr. Chen has assisted various multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises and privately owned enterprises in their in-bound, out-bound and exit transactions in China. His deep involvement throughout the cross-border deal process enables timely and insightful advice to overcome transactional, cultural and language barriers. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chen spent 13 years with a Big Four firm in Shanghai, where he most recently served as a Partner in the capacity of transaction and corporate finance. His project experience includes assisting: a Swedish industrial conglomerate to acquire a metal cutting tool target in China; a Swiss mineral products manufacturer to acquire a peer company in China and form a joint venture; and a U.K. life essential company to acquire a local food ingredient manufacturer in China and form a JV.

Additionally, Mr. Chen has assisted: a globally leading auto-component supplier to form a JV with a local auto OEM group; the same client (the globally leading auto-component supplier) to exit from its China JV; a Nordic private equity fund to dispose its Chinese portfolio company engaged in precision machining; a Swedish metal group to dispose its subsidiary in China; an Asian conglomerate to dispose its non-core assets (a shipyard) in China; a Chinese vacuum pump company in its sales process to a global peer buyer; and a Chinese professional sewing machine company to make acquisitions in Europe. 

Mr. Chen earned a bachelor’s degree in industry and foreign trade from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is a fellow member of the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
