Grace Wee is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Atlanta. She brings over 20 years of public accounting and consulting experience, with a focus on indirect tax. Ms. Wee specializes in business and operational license advisory services, helping companies navigate complex and nuanced federal, state, and local requirements related to their permits, licenses, and registrations.

Ms. Wee manages end-to-end business license compliance engagements for large global companies. Her work includes overseeing recurring renewal cycles, leading large-scale license transition efforts during M&A or other change in control transactions, and conducting comprehensive research to determine registration and filing obligations resulting from corporate restructuring, distress, or shifting regulatory requirements.

Ms. Wee leads cross-functional licensing teams across tax, legal, regulatory, operations, and compliance functions to review and streamline licensing processes, reduce risk, and create standard operating procedures for companies with high-volume, multijurisdictional license portfolios. She also assists clients in addressing urgent notices to mitigate business penalties or disruptions to business.

Additionally, Ms. Wee’s experience includes working with multiple client stakeholders and internal workstreams to provide seamless transitions and proactive solutions in large global managed services engagements. She has served clients across a range of industries, including transportation and logistics, oil and gas, retail, and technology.

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Wee spent more than 17 years with Big Four accounting firms in Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, and Atlanta. She has a strong background in various aspects of state and local tax, including excise tax, credits and incentives, and sales and use tax. In previous roles, Ms. Wee also helped to develop and implement leading practice processes and procedures around large compliance engagements and led teams defending audits, negotiating tax incentives, and dealing directly with state authorities on tax credits and controversy matters. Additionally, she taught national and local area training classes related to multistate tax issues and developments.

Ms. Wee earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wellesley College and a JD from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is a member of the State Bar of Illinois and the State Bar of California.
