Noah Wepman is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services in Seattle. He specializes in aligning resources to strategy to accelerate performance improvement for education organizations. His primary areas of concentration include strategic financial management and resource allocation for K-12 education systems, nonprofits and foundations.

Mr. Wepman brings more than 20 years of experience in the public sector. He has served as the CFO of a large urban school district where he redesigned the student-based funding formula, created the district’s first long-term financial model and supported the negotiation of a landmark labor contract. He also led financial and operational improvements that resulted in the removal of the district as a high-risk agency in the city’s financial audit. As education advisor to a mayor, he oversaw the financial restructuring of the city’s five education agencies and helped stand up a new agency charged with a $3 billion modernization of the city’s school system.

Mr. Wepman is also an expert in charter school finance, having worked with numerous new and existing charter schools and charter management organizations to create long term, sustainable operating and financial models.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Wepman was the CFO and Chief Strategy Officer at a national nonprofit where he overhauled the organization’s financial and business model, significantly improved financial analysis and reporting functions, and led the development of two strategic growth plans. He also provided strategic financial leadership through the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in no layoffs or headcount reductions.

Previously, Mr. Wepman was a senior program officer at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation where he led complex national projects to improve the alignment of financial and people resources to K-12 district instructional priorities to drive improved student outcomes. He also advised school district CFOs and superintendents on strategic budgeting and resource allocation and designed and executed a $100-million portfolio of grants and program-related investments that increased access to low-cost facilities capital for charter schools.

Mr. Wepman earned a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from Colby College and a master’s in public administration from The George Washington University. He co-founded and is board chair of Impact Public Schools, a network of high performing charter schools in Washington State.
