With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Shamsai has worked across a range of industries, including music, publishing and television. Her primary areas of concentration are media operational transformations.
Dr. Shamsai’s notable assignments include designing and implementing the shared service center structure for centralizing advertising operations across a major broadcaster’s owned-and-operated business television properties; leading the strategy and implementation of a global newspaper company’s advertising position, which resulted in a 17% increase in average CMP within six months of go-live; and leading phase one of a $25 million transformation of a global music company’s copyright and royalty operation processes.
Additionally, Dr. Shamsai designed and led the industry’s first integration of the major 13 digital ad data sets for a global newspaper company, creating the company’s market differentiator of providing unique transparency into ad performance. She also managed the advertising and audience extension operations for a local television company, resulting in continued performance of 100% quality and responsive key performance indicators.
Prior to joining A&M, Dr. Shamsai spent five years with Accenture’s Media group in New York, and 10 years with EY’s Media group, both in partner/managing director roles. Previously, she spent 10 years in industry, holding leadership roles at Discovery Communications, Reed Elsevier and BMG Entertainment.
Dr. Shamsai earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Brown University, a PhD in historical musicology from Columbia University and an MBA from Insead School of Business. She has received the awards of Fulbright Scholar, Mellon Faculty Fellow, Rotary International Scholar, German/American Young Leaders Award, American Association of University Women Scholar, Cartier International Branding Award, Sasakawa Business Leadership Award and grants from the German, Austrian and Italian governments. Dr. Shamsai also held two two-year terms on The WICT Network’s national board and has been an Associate Adjunct Professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business for 15 years.
