Satyajit Das

Mr. Das leads the A&M Steel Centre of Excellence in India. He is the technical lead for the steel industry and is building a robust database, benchmarks and proof of value, with a focus on technology, operating performance and capacities, prices and carbon footprint.
At A&M, Mr. Das has worked on several projects with large steel corporates, including Tata Steel and ArcelorMittal on corporate transformation, post-merger integration, performance improvement, capex program, technology selection and digital initiatives.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Das spent more than 10 years with SMS Group, where he served as Technical Expert — Steelmaking and led the startup, stabilization and process improvements of several steelmaking units worldwide. He was also the lead for developing new process design and automation in steel technology.
Previously, Mr. Das served as Head — Business Development and Application Engineering with JAMIPOL (Tata Steel group company), where he successfully developed a low-cost 30-ton hot metal de-sulphurizing station for a large pig iron manufacturer. Before that, he served for more than 10 years with Tata Steel Jamshedpur in operations, quality and technology at its steelmaking plant.
Mr. Das earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering (concentration in metallurgy) from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
