Kevin Young

With more than 15 years of experience, Mr. Young has been involved in a variety of mandates, advising management teams, corporate boards and investors on capital raises, refinancings, recapitalizations and M&A. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including upstream oil and gas, midstream infrastructure, oilfield services and financial services.
Mr. Young’s notable transactions include serving as Exclusive Financial Advisor to Wexford Capital L.P. with respect to the strategic financing of a portfolio company focused on commodity distribution in western Canada; Astara Energy Corp. with respect to securing revolving and term credit facilities; and Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. with respect to the acquisition of light oil assets in Saskatchewan and a senior secured term loan. Additionally, Mr. Young was involved in the sale of Farrell Creek Montney shale gas assets to Progress Energy for $1.5 billion; sale of the Sukunka coal deposit to Xstrata PLC for $500 million; and the acquisition of over 100,000 acres of freehold mineral leases in the Marcellus Shale.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Young provided independent consulting services to oil and gas industry clients with exploration, production, oil sands and royalty operations in western Canada. His services focused on advisory and analysis related to acquisitions and divestures, land, valuations and capital planning. Previously, Mr. Young spent seven years with Talisman Energy Inc. (Repsol S.A.), where he held roles as a Landman and in corporate development, where he was a member of a small divestiture team that sold over $2.5 billion in non-core assets.
Mr. Young earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Toronto and a master’s degree in financial management from the University of Alberta School of Business. He is a member of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen and is registered in Canada as an Exempt Market Dealer.
