Chris Chia is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s U.S. Energy Practice in Houston. He specializes in strategy and operational excellence in upstream oil and gas as well as helping clients win in an evolving and challenging energy market.

With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Chia brings a deep technical understanding of the energy business, allowing him to employ a fact-based approach to corporate performance improvement solutions across all segments of the sector.

Mr. Chia’s notable clients include Fortune 100 exploration and production, mining and oilfield services companies. He has experience with energy transition strategy development, business transformation, cost assessment and driving financial returns. He is also experienced in helping executives to communicate and manage change upwards, across and through their organizations.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chia served as Managing Director with The Carnrite Group. Previously, he held senior management positions in drilling operations, engineering management and new technology software and hardware product development for Schlumberger, GE Oil & Gas and Scientific Drilling International. Mr. Chia started his career as a licensed navigator in the Merchant Marine Service.

Mr. Chia earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science from The Open University in the U.K. and an MBA in energy management from the University of Oklahoma. He is an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Oklahoma for the Executive MBA program, where he lectures in ESG and Sustainability.
