Chris Lanman is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in Atlanta. He specializes in performance improvement, cost and process optimization, operational and commercial due diligence, integration planning and value creation for private equity firms.

With more than 25 years of consulting and high-tech industry experience, Mr. Lanman has significant expertise leading cross-functional teams and initiatives that deliver improved operational performance and value creation across the enterprise. He has led client engagements in SG&A optimization, direct/indirect spend reductions, supply chain target operating model design, S&OP design and implementation, inventory reductions, standalone cost and synergies for complex transactions and carve outs. Mr. Lanman has worked with clients across various industries and specializes in the semiconductor, hardware, cloud computing, and software industries.

Mr. Lanman’s notable engagements include leading the supply chain integration of a semiconductor manufacturing carve-out by designing and implementing a new operating model and S&OP process that delivered 70 percent improvement in on-time delivery and $2 billion in CapEx avoidance. He led SG&A cost take-out for a $6.5 billion software private equity portfolio company that resulted in $85 million OpEx run-rating savings; and led inventory reduction engagement for a $28 billion cloud computing infrastructure provider that delivered improved visibility across suppliers, reduction in SKUs, and improved S&OP process that reduced quarterly balance sheet inventory by $500 million and E&O inventory by $230 million.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lanman spent six years with KPMG as a Managing Director in the TMT Strategy and M&A practice. He focused on performance improvement for PE and corporate clients. Mr. Lanman also worked with AlixPartners, providing performance improvement services to both PE and corporate clients.

Mr. Lanman began his career working in high-tech supply chain leadership roles at Apple, Intel and various start-ups.

Mr. Lanman earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an executive master’s degree in supply chain leadership from Stanford University. He is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
