Manas Tamotia is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Southeast Asia and Australia and leads the firm’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in Southeast Asia. He brings 20 years of strategy and mergers and acquisitions experience across ASEAN, America, Australia and New Zealand, both as an adviser and an operator.

Mr. Tamotia has worked extensively with private equity, venture capital, sovereign wealth funds and family offices, as well as corporate buyers, undertaking pre-deal diligence, target identification and post-deal value creation efforts. He has worked across a range of industries, including, retail, technology, industrials, social infrastructure, healthcare and education. In addition to support transactions, Mr. Tamotia has worked with PE-owned portfolio companies and corporates on over 50 strategy assignments. These included answering critical questions on “where to play,” “how to win,” and “how to organize.” For instance, Mr. Tamotia advised a sovereign wealth fund-owned building materials client on its international growth strategy, developing a game-theory-based framework to study industry consolidation scenarios and the optimal outcomes for the client’s shareholders and conducting a strategic review regarding its ongoing ownership by the SWF.

He also selected acquisitions in identified growth areas with improved environmental, social and corporate governance implications.

Previously, Mr. Tamotia served as Partner with LEK Consulting. As Head of LEK’s Singapore office, he was instrumental in building the practice in ASEAN and led engagements with strategic and private equity clients across the region. He also served as Chief Strategy Officer with HappyFresh, a grocery e-commerce platform in SE Asia, and worked in the corporate strategy and M&A team at Constellation Energy in the U.S.

Mr. Tamotia earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and information systems from the University of New South Wales and an MBA from the Wharton School.
