Steve Hurt is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Automotive and Industrial Group in Dallas. He specializes in large scale operations transformation programs, enterprise-wide cost reduction and performance improvement. Mr. Hurt has worked with clients across a range of industries including, automotive, industrials, aerospace and defense, healthcare equipment and technology.

With over 25 years of experience in consulting, Mr. Hurt has led cost transformation initiatives for major aircraft programs for the U.S. Department of Defense, including fixed wing (fighter and cargo), rotary, tilt wing and unmanned aircraft. He pioneered transformative approaches in maintenance, repairs and operations, software development and new production. His work reduced costs and increased velocity, delivering billions in improvements and savings. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hurt led the implementation of production operating systems that were successfully scaled to global operations across multiple industries. He developed enterprise-wide programs to reduce selling, general and administrative expenses cost structures across global organizations. This resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in savings; improved throughput and quality performance; and fundamentally transformed the organizations’ cost structures.  

Previously, Mr. Hurt spent 22 years with Kearney, where he most recently served as Senior Partner with both the Operations Practice and Automotive, Aerospace/Defense, Transportation and Industrials teams. He led the Dallas office and held various global and practice leadership roles. Before that, Mr. Hurt was a member of BearingPoint’s Aerospace and Defense Practice and worked at General Motors, where he served as an assembly and product launch engineer. 

Mr. Hurt earned a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing systems engineering from Kettering University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
