Ignacio Basagoiti is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Global Transaction Advisory Group in Iberia (Spain and Portugal). He launched the firm’s cross-industry TAG practice in Spain and Portugal.

With more than 14 years of experience, Mr. Basagoiti advises private equity and strategic buyers on large and mid-market buy- and sell-side financial and integrated due diligence projects. He brings expertise in carve-outs, business plan reviews, SPA, M&A accounting and purchase price mechanism support.

Mr. Basagoiti has led numerous international transactions requiring detailed knowledge of international financing reporting standards (IFRS) requirements. He has worked with clients across a range of industries, including financial services, software, healthcare, manufacturing, consumer goods and services, infra and energy and business services.

Mr. Basagoiti’s notable clients include Anacap, Ayesa, Banca March, BMS, HIG, Keensight Capital, Platinum, Portobello, Stirling Square, Suanfarma and Tikehau.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Basagoiti was a Director with Deloitte Spain’s Transaction Services department. He also led the transaction services sustainability practice (ESG). Mr. Basagoiti began his career at Banco Santander as part of the cross-industry European M&A team.

Mr. Basagoiti earned a bachelor’s degree in business from ICADE in Madrid and the University of Sydney; a master’s degree (high honors) in audit, financial management and leadership from ICADE Business School; and an MBA (high honors) from Chicago Booth School of Business. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
