Mark Skelton

Mr. Skelton advises on a range of fund situations, across various jurisdictions and asset classes, often involving diverse stakeholder groups and disjointed relationships between the LPs and GPs. He provides a range of services across the funds sector, from LP/LPAC advisory to acting as a director of GPs and Fund Managers, generally in situations where there are challenged, distressed or tail-end funds. He has had senior roles and directorships on large-scale U.K., U.S., European, Asian and Australian projects and has worked with clients across a range of industries, including infrastructure, financial services, professional services, automotive, retail, property and telecommunications.
Currently, Mr. Skelton is the lead Independent Director of the General Partner of the Infrastructure Growth Capital Fund. This role includes acting as a Director of multiple investment SPVs to oversee the sale strategy and process for the fund’s remaining investments, including a $1.7 billion power station and an oil refinery. Mr. Skelton also led the financial review into the fund’s history, resulting from the fraud and mismanagement perpetrated by the prior fund manager, and is subsequently pursuing potential claims against third parties on behalf of the LPs across various jurisdictions.
Mr. Skelton is also acting in relation to two challenged tail-end European mid-cap funds with €500+ million in initial deployed capital. Furthermore, he advises on options for GPs and LPs to streamline tail-end or single asset funds to maximise and preserve asset value, whilst simultaneously reducing cost burdens.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Skelton served as a Managing Director with Duff & Phelps’ Global Advisory and Restructuring practice. Previously, he held senior positions in a leading independent restructuring advisory and a Big Four firm. His notable assignments include the Infrastructure Growth Capital Fund, New World Resources Plc, ASA Resources Group Plc, Arcapita Bank, Cattles, Chemtura, Sea Containers, Enron and London Trust Bank.
Mr. Skelton earned a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand.
