Steve Smith is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax, LLP in London. He brings 30 years of experience providing capital allowances advisory services.

Mr. Smith has worked with a variety of investors, including FTSE 100 companies, major corporate investors and occupiers and private individuals. With values from between £.5 million to £1+ billion, his notable assignments include 20 Fenchurch Street, London; 1-5 Bank Street, London; Shell Centre, London; the Londoner hotel; and the Centre:MK in Milton Keynes.

Mr. Smith has also acted as an expert witness, supporting a major law firm in respect of a capital allowances case and has advised on electing to claim capital allowances on intangible expenditure. He has also provided capital allowances advice on renewable energy developments and infrastructure investments

Mr. Smith has worked with clients in various industries, including major banks, energy companies, retailers, manufacturers, hoteliers and property companies with a focus on real estate investment, development and occupation. He has provided capital allowances advice on acquisitions, at a corporate, portfolio and individual asset basis, as well as developments, refurbishments, fit outs and disposals.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Smith spent more than five years with JLL in London as Head of Capital Allowances. Previously, he worked for 11 years as Head of Capital Allowances with a major project and cost management company.

Mr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying from Greenwich University. He is a qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
