Larry Thomas is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Performance Improvement in Tampa, and is a member of the Executive Team with the firm's Chemical and Process Industry team.

With more than 35 years of experience in the chemical and process industries, Mr. Thomas has led businesses at every stage, from emerging growth to mature commodities.

Additionally, Mr. Thomas has led operational due diligence and manufacturing assessments for private equity M&A transactions with an aggregate value of over $10 billion, including producers of commodity and specialty chemicals, non-ferrous metals, polymers, coatings, adhesives and fabricated goods. He has also led manufacturing improvement projects, including maintenance and operational excellence, footprint rationalization, supply chain optimization and business process redesign that have delivered substantial operational improvements across global production networks. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Thomas served as Vice President & Managing Director with Ranpak, where he helped prepare the company for sale and IPO. Previously, he served as Director of Investment Banking with Spouting Rock Capital Advisors; VP Chemicals at Toyota Tsusho; and Chief Executive Officer with Primet Precision Materials. Earlier, Mr. Thomas held leadership and managerial roles with Air Products and Dow Chemical.  

Mr. Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is fluent in Spanish and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Lehigh University.
