U.S. Banks Receiving More Subpoenas for AML Transactional Data

Over the past few months, U.S. banks have seen a spike in the number of subpoenas that have been served by federal agencies as a response to anti-money laundering (AML) efforts. 

In the article below, A&M Managing Director Hal Crawford is quoted about the uptick in subpeoenas being served to U.S. financial insutitions to disclose transactional data. Mr. Crawford asserts that the investigatory focus is driven potentially by illicit transfers of cryptocurrency, cannabis-related payments and suspected financial crimes tied to activity near the U.S. border with Mexico.
