Barry Lynch is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Restructuring in Grand Cayman. He specializes in providing distressed solutions to the financial services sector within corporate advisory, restructuring, insolvency, structured finance and fiduciary capacities.

With more than 14 years of experience, Mr. Lynch is regularly appointed by the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands as an Official Liquidator and Receiver. Additionally, he has run numerous high profile multi-jurisdictional insolvency, restructuring and advisory cases across the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, U.S., U.K., Europe and Asia. Mr. Lynch has also taken a lead role, acting as a Board Director on behalf of various distressed structured finance collateralized debt obligation deals.

Mr. Lynch has completed a number of capital market transactions, independent business reviews, internal and external audits on behalf of multinational financial institutions and provided advice and recommendations in contingency planning with respect to financial and operational control processes.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lynch served with Rawlinson & Hunter’s corporate restructuring group, where he worked on a range of engagements across the financial services industry, including banking and capital markets, hedge funds, structured finance CDOs and collateralized loan obligations, aircraft leasing and shipping. Previously, he served with PwC in Ireland.

Mr. Lynch earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Technological University Dublin and a master’s degree in accountancy from the National College of Ireland. He is a Chartered Accountant in Ireland; qualified Insolvency Practitioner in the Cayman Islands; and CIMA registered Director. Mr. Lynch is also a member of the Cayman Islands Society for Professional Accountants, INSOL International and RISA, the Cayman Islands chapter of INSOL and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
