Emerson Santana is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group. Mr. Santana brings 16 years of experience in leading buy-side and sell-side due diligence and structuring, specifically in the tax and labor areas on behalf of private equity and corporate acquirers.

Mr. Lopes has worked on transactions in a wide range of industries including telecommunication, manufacturing, chemicals, infrastructure, financial services, agribusiness, among others.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Santana worked for 16 years with KPMG. Mr. Lopes was a Director in KPMG’s transaction advisory services practice based in São Paulo. Mr. Lopes has broad experience in assisting companies with transactions, including tax due diligence, identification of tax contingencies, and post transaction tax integration, compliance, and planning. Mr. Santana also assisted the Latin America Head of Tax in the gap analysis of 16 countries (preparation of an individual report per country, action plan and assistance in the implementation) and responsible for the yearly quality review of most important jurisdictions in the region, including Brasil, Mexico and Venezuela.

 Mr. Santana has significant experience with both inbound and outbound investment in Brazil, corporate reorganizations, import and export transactions and Central Bank regulations.

Mr. Santana earned an accounting degree and is a certified accountant member of the Brazilian Accounting Counsel. A Brazilian national, Mr. Santana is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French.​
