Tyler Horton is a Managing Director and U.S. leader of Alvarez & Marsal’s Core Tax Services in Washington, D.C. He provides strategic and business advisory oversight across a multidisciplinary A&M team that works on federal, state, and local taxes; sales and use tax; international tax; transfer pricing; and private client services.
Mr. Horton brings more than 20 years advising public and closely held business clients, primarily in private equity and real estate. He specializes in technical issues relating to flow-through entities including partnerships and corporations.
Mr. Horton’s experience includes planning for complex transactions and providing a full range of tax services that encompass initial planning through implementation and the preparation of the related tax returns. His practice also includes significant work in IRS audit and other related controversy support.
Mr. Horton has advised clients on economic and income tax consequences of potential transactions across all phases of their operations. He also consults on structuring transactions related to the acquisition and disposition of operating companies as well as major portfolios of real estate assets. Having worked with closely held businesses and their family ownership structures, Mr. Horton has considerable experience in individual income tax and estate tax planning, including the related tax reporting.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Horton spent six years with Arthur Andersen in the Washington, D.C., Real Estate and Financial Services group. Previously, he was a Manager with a boutique real estate tax consulting firm
Mr. Horton earned a BBA from The College of William and Mary. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Virginia.
