Emilio Martinez is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Tax in Miami. He specializes in advising multi-state clients on various state and local tax matters, including income/franchise, sales and use tax and property tax matters.

With more than 17 years of tax experience, Mr. Martinez has advised companies throughout the U.S. across a range of industries, including financial services, real estate, telecommunications and electric utilities. He has also collaborated with clients on various state matters such as the identification of tax saving opportunities, determining taxability of transactions, tax planning strategies and audit representation.

Mr. Martinez has participated in multiple large-scale state and local tax compliance preparation and review engagements for private and publicly held corporations. He also brings experience in the review of state tax provisions and disclosures in accordance with ASC 740 (FAS 109) and ASC 450 (FAS 5).

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Martinez spent two years with Berkowitz Dick Pollack & Brant, where he provided consulting and compliance services to closely-held businesses, high net-worth individuals and pass-through entities. He also spent one year as a State Tax Senior Manager with Interval International, Inc.

Mr. Martinez earned a BBA (concentrations in accounting and business management) from Barry University and a master’s degree in taxation from Florida International University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. Martinez is fluent in English and Spanish.
