Environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues have captivated investors, customers and regulators in recent years.
To better understand private equity leaders’ sentiment about ESG topics, A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group collaborated with the New York Private Equity Network (NYPEN) to conduct a survey of PE investors and assess drivers of progress toward and challenges for ESG goals and reporting considerations.
NYPEN is an association for PE investment professionals located in the greater New York City area, providing educational content and networking events. Founded in 2001, it now has a membership of over 2,000 professionals representing more than 800 investment firms.
The survey, whose target respondents were mostly from companies under $500 million in enterprise value size, aimed to understand:
- The progress made to date by leading PE firms;
- The benefits — and challenges — of integrating ESG into investment considerations;
- Key lessons learned from those currently incorporating ESG; and
- What’s next for ESG in PE
