A&M appoints new Sovereign Advisory Service’s lead for Latin America & the Caribbean
London & New York, 18th January 2024 – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has strengthened its Sovereign Advisory Services (SAS) practice with the appointment of Eugenio Alarcon as a Managing Director.
Mr Alarcon will be based in New York and report to Dr Reza Baqir, Global Practice Leader for SAS. He brings more than 28 years’ experience in both government and investment banking to his new role. He spent 14 years at JP Morgan, where his most recent role was Head of Public Sector Coverage for Latin America and the Caribbean, responsible for a portfolio of clients including Sovereigns, Quasi-Sovereigns, Central Banks, Sovereign Wealth Funds, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs).
Prior to that he worked at Deutsche Bank on the Latin America Debt Capital Markets desk, and spent eight years in the period between 1995 and 2006 in different positions within the Debt Management Office of the Mexican Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, culminating as the Head of External Credit.
Mr Alarcon's appointment will further strengthen A&M’s engagement with governments, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, MDBs, and SOEs, aligning with the SAS practice’s mission to improve debt sustainability, increase access to capital, and promote sustainable economic growth in emerging markets.
