Alvarez & Marsal's Global Transaction Advisory Group's Canadian Practice Bolsters Industry Expertise to Drive Energy & Infrastructure Growth
Geoff Hayes joins as Managing Director in Toronto in expansion of firm’s industry capabilities
Toronto – January 29, 2026 – Alvarez & Marsal (“A&M”), a leading global professional services firm, today announced that Geoff Hayes has joined its Global Transaction Advisory Group (Global TAG) as a Managing Director. Based in Toronto, Mr. Hayes will lead Global TAG Canada’s Energy & Infrastructure (E&I) industry group, building on the firm’s momentum in the Canadian market by deepening specialization across energy, infrastructure and natural resources – enhancing connectivity with A&M’s energy & infrastructure capability footprint.
Mr. Hayes brings more than 25 years of combined industry and advisory experience, with a distinguished background spanning corporate finance leadership roles and senior transaction advisory positions. He joins A&M from KPMG Canada, where he was a Partner in the Deal Advisory Infrastructure Investments practice. Earlier in his career, he held senior in-house corporate finance roles at Barrick Gold and Magna Entertainment. Specializing in energy, infrastructure and natural resources, Mr. Hayes works closely with private equity, pension fund, and corporate clients to provide financial due diligence, quality of earnings analysis, financial modeling, and sale & purchase agreement (SPA) transaction support.
“Geoff’s appointment reflects our continued investment in sector-led expertise and our commitment to delivering differentiated, insight-driven transaction advisory services – across the Canadian and wider North American market, and globally,” said Paul Aversano, Global Practice Leader of A&M’s Global Transaction Advisory Group. “His combination of deep sector expertise, hands-on industry experience, and long-standing client relationships makes him exceptionally well positioned to lead our energy & infrastructure efforts in Canada and to further expand our capabilities across Global TAG.”
“Geoff’s appointment builds directly on the strength we’ve established in Canada, adding senior sector leadership that enhances our ability to serve investors with strong local insight, while leveraging the scale and connectivity of A&M’s global energy & infrastructure platform,” said Scott Foster, Managing Director and TAG Canada Practice Leader. “I’m extremely excited to partner with Geoff along with our operational, commercial, and technology colleagues to accelerate A&M Canada’s expansion of our integrated due diligence and value creation offering to energy & infrastructure investors and operators.”
“What attracted me to A&M is the quality of the people and the firm’s entrepreneurial, growth-driven mindset,” said Geoff Hayes. “Clients investing in energy & infrastructure need advisors who truly understand these assets and the industries behind them, and my experience across both advisory and corporate roles allows me to bring a unique sector-focused perspective that creates real value for our clients and the communities these assets serve.”
