Alvarez & Marsal Launches Forensic Technology Services in Korea

Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has launched its Forensic Technology Services offering in Seoul, Korea. As part of A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice, the Forensic Technology Services offering in Korea aligns with the firm’s commitment to meeting regional market needs and helping clients conduct e-Discovery and forensic investigations across Asia and globally.

A&M’s Forensic Technology practice in Asia offers clients digital investigations and e-Discovery support and management for dispute matters. The practice is managed from Hong Kong with professionals based in mainland China and now Korea. The Forensic Technology team in Asia has worked with clients in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia. Additionally, the team also handles cross-border matters involving Asia Pacific, North America and Europe.

“We are committed to growing A&M’s Forensic Technology services in Asia and to meeting the evolving needs and challenges in the Korea market,” said Davin Teo, Managing Director and Head of A&M’s Forensic Technology practice in Asia. “We see a rising number of investigations and disputes in Korea leading to greater demand for forensic technology services. Having a local team in Korea to support these matters enhances our ability to help local, regional and international clients navigate cross-border disputes, investigations and regulatory matters.”

Concurrent with this strategic expansion, Kiyoung Nam and Jinhyung Jeong have joined A&M Korea’s Disputes and Investigations practice as Director and Senior Manager, respectively. Mr. Nam, who specializes in litigation and dispute support related work, will advise clients on data collection, transfer and data privacy risks in Korea involving Personal Information Protection Act 2016 (PIPA). Mr. Jeong will assist clients in digital and internal investigations, fraud examination, data leakage analysis, intellectual property and e-Discovery matters.

This year A&M’s Disputes and Investigations practice bolstered its China-based and China-related engagement capabilities with the appointment of Jean Chow-Callam; and strengthened its forensic and accounting capabilities and compliance and regulatory advisory bench strength across Asia Pacific with the appointment of Chris Fordham.
