Alvarez & Marsal Expands its Forensics and Disputes Practice Globally with Four New Managing Directors

Jeremy Cusimano, Eric Mazur and Benjamin Wilner Join A&M Offices in Boston, Washington, D.C. and Chicago; Mikhail Krapivin Joins in Moscow to Lead Global Forensics and Disputes in Russia

New York, NY – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded the breadth and depth of its Global Forensics and Disputes practice with four seasoned practitioners who will each join as Managing Directors and bring with them highly sought-after economic, regulatory and forensic expertise.

“More than ever, multinationals need world-class forensic and dispute experts to help mitigate and resolve high-stakes situations, including intellectual property (IP) theft and asset recovery, C-suite level fraud and the actions of increasingly punitive regulatory bodies,” said Bryan Ruez, Global Co-Leader of Alvarez & Marsal Global Forensics and Disputes Services. “The operational, regulatory and academic qualifications among this group illustrate the kind of talent and leadership A&M brings to help solve complex client problems.”

Mr. Jeremy Cusimano, based in Boston, developed and led the first team of experts dedicated to the forensic analysis of trading and market events to identify potential violations of the Commodity Exchange Act. He has performed investigations involving exchange-traded and over-the-counter physical commodities, financial derivatives and other securities. Mr. Cusimano earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in environmental and natural resource economics from the University of Maine.

Mr. Eric Mazur, based in Washington, D.C, has led large technology projects relating to the forensic recovery and electronic discovery process of data demanded by subpoena, and has forensically produced millions of pages of client data for critical privileged legal review. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Maryland, as well as specialized credentials, including Seized Computer Evidence Recovery Specialist (SCERS-FLETC), Encase Certified Examiner (ENCE), Certified Electronic Evidence Collection Specialist, Certified Technical Trainer (CTIA) and Computer Network Investigations (CNTP-FLETC). Mr. Mazur is highly regarded as an expert witness in computer forensics and electronic discovery and has extensive experience testifying in U.S. Courts. The United States Department of Justice has recognized his achievements on three separate occasions.

Dr. Benjamin Wilner, who is based in A&M’s Chicago office, has experience encompassing antitrust liability and damages, business interruption, business valuations, economic analyses, intellectual property, labor, medical malpractice / personal injury / wrongful death, product liability, statistical data analyses and other corporate and litigation related matters. He has advised corporations and governments on economic and statistical issues, and received a special commendation from the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection for building an economic model to restructure a $2.5 billion tariff. He earned a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude with distinction in economics and mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania, a general course degree in mathematics and statistics from the London School of Economics and a doctorate in managerial economics and decision science from Northwestern University.

Mr. Mikhail Krapivin is particularly experienced in investigations of C-suite level fraud and advising shareholders and boards of directors on related conflict resolution. He regularly assists clients with cross-border asset tracing and recovery matters, including recovery in opaque jurisdictions. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Krapivin established and managed the anti-fraud boutique Krapivin Group, which was listed among the top 50 law firms in Russia in 2015. Additionally, Who’s Who Legal has recognized him among the world’s leading asset recovery practitioners. Mr. Krapivin graduated with honors from the law school of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and from Irving B. Harris Graduate School of Public Policy Studies at the University of Chicago.
