London, 8 May 2024: Global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has deepened its investigations and compliance capabilities in Europe with the appointment of Richard Grint as a Managing Director.

Joining from FTI Consulting, Mr Grint is a specialist in complex financial crimes advisory and investigations. He brings more than 15 years of experience, having led cross-border assignments in more than 30 countries across Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Based in Copenhagen and London, Mr Grint advises on compliance assessments, regulator intermediation, monitorships, customer onboarding and KYC automation, transaction monitoring optimisation and forensic investigations. He works closely with Phil Beckett, leader of A&M’s European and Middle East DI practice, along with the wider team across multiple jurisdictions.

Mr Grint said: “Whether it’s allegations of money laundering, terrorist financing, market abuse, sanctions, fraud, bribery, corruption, tax evasion or proliferation financing, investigations into financial crime demand ever more specialist know-how. Mr Grint most recently served as Senior Managing Director and Head of Financial Crime Consulting at FTI, where he spent three years. Before that, he spent nearly 10 years with PA Consulting, where he served as Partner and Global Head of Financial Crime Consulting.

Mr Grint’s experience includes leading monitorships and regulatory reviews; writing the end-to-end AML/CFT supervisory approaches for European regulators; and using technology to enhance financial crimes risk management. He has also served as the monitor for one of Europe’s largest banks on behalf of multiple governments.
