London – Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has appointed Ian Tyler as a Managing Director in its Financial Industry Advisory Services team. Mr Tyler will spearhead the Treasury Advisory practice in Europe, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in prudential risk, treasury and Asset/Liability Management (ALM) matters.  

Mr. Tyler brings over 30 years’ bank treasury experience having worked at a number of major UK banks and having led the financial institutions treasury advisory team of a Big Four firm. He has significant expertise in all aspects of capital and liquidity risk management, as well as ALM, market execution, systems implementation, and organisational design.

Ian Tyler added, “Whilst the pace of regulatory change is starting to abate, treasurers can’t yet relax as there are still a number of areas that will attract increasing regulatory focus in the coming months. These include decisions on Minimum Requirement for own funds and Eligible Liabilities (MREL) requirements, assessment of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) capability, and quality of recovery planning.”

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Tyler spent three years at Deloitte, where he advised on a wide range of treasury related projects including EBA stress testing, designing and implementing a new FTP system, policy and governance remediation work following  regulatory intervention as well as helping establish a new treasury function in record time to facilitate change of control.

Previously, Mr Tyler was Group Treasurer at Tesco Bank and Group Head of Capital and Head of Non Trading Market Risk at RBS Group.
