Welcome Back Spotlight: Aaditya Bhargava
Returning to A&M Singapore: The Power of Relationships in a Global Career
Aaditya Bhargava has rejoined Alvarez & Marsal as a Manager in Corporate Performance Improvement (CPI) in Singapore, having previously been part of the firm’s early expansion in Australia. His return reflects both a global career journey and the lasting impact of the relationships built at A&M.
In this Q&A, Aaditya shares what brought him back, how his move to Singapore has expanded his perspective, and how relationships and travel have shaped his career.
From Australia to Singapore
What brought you back to A&M?
I missed consulting’s fast-paced, multifaceted environment, where no two days look the same, and every challenge demands your best thinking. Beyond the work, I missed the people at A&M: smart, driven, and genuinely collaborative colleagues, who make the experience meaningful. That pull to return aligned with my wife’s secondment to Singapore, which made it the right moment to come back to A&M in a new market.
You were part of A&M’s early expansion in Australia. What was it like helping build the brand from the ground up?
Incredibly rewarding. I joined when A&M was growing our presence in Australia, well before the regular features in the Australian Financial Review. I still remember sitting on the floor assembling a whiteboard with Nick Reid, Managing Director, in our temporary Perth office, then getting straight back to building proposals. That early energy and sense of ownership were unmatched. Being part of A&M’s first projects in Australia is something I am still proud of.
A New Market, A Broader Perspective
How has your move to Singapore expanded your experience within Corporate Performance Improvement?
It has pushed me beyond my traditional focus on energy and mining into a broader range of industries and service offerings. I have especially valued working with private equity clients across sectors, from data centers to consumer businesses.
How did you approach building credibility in a new office and market?
A&M’s one firm, one team mindset meant I was reconnecting with friends in the region, not walking into a room of strangers. Beyond that, I focused on striking the right balance: confidence in the experience I bring and genuine curiosity about what this market values. Taking the time to listen and learn has been critical.
The Power of Relationships and Staying Connected to A&M
You have emphasized the power of relationships. What advice would you give others about staying connected to A&M?
Never underestimate the relationships you build at A&M, especially those forged through close collaboration and high trust. For me, those connections helped me relocate to another part of the world and opened possibilities I could not have imagined. My advice is simple: stay in touch. You never know what door will open.
You travel frequently for both work and pleasure. How has travel influenced your perspective, both personally and professionally?
Travel fills me with immense gratitude and has been one of the greatest shaping forces in my life. The opportunity to see the world and engage with a wide range of people is invaluable. It pushes you, humbles you, and reminds you that perfection is not the goal, growth is.
