Meaningful Work and a Vibrant Culture Fuel Professional Growth at A&M
Wenjun Leng is an Analyst with Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Performance Improvement (CPI) practice in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
In this Q&A, Wenjun reflects on his positive recruiting experience, the connections that shaped his transition from Intern to Analyst and how A&M’s core value of Fun and strong culture have supported his growth.
Why A&M?
What drew you to intern at A&M and what inspired your decision to return full-time?
I decided to intern at A&M because of the standout recruiting process. A&M hosted an informal social for candidates, which gave us the chance to connect with the team and get a genuine feel for the firm’s culture and environment. After receiving offers, we were invited to dinner, toured the office and met even more professionals. The effort A&M put into making candidates feel included helped me make the decision to join .
I returned to A&M full-time because I knew I would continue to grow and learn. During my internship, I gained valuable experience from my project team, especially by observing how the project was managed day to day. Experiencing the organization and my team’s drive firsthand helped me build soft skills and provided an incredible environment to grow.
Mentorship and Professional Development at A&M
How has A&M supported your personal or professional development since you joined?
A&M’s internal Learning Hub has been a key resource for my development. The platform has a lot of courses ranging from topics like Power BI to consulting frameworks. Many colleagues are open to connecting and providing guidance when I want to explore a new area of interest.
Chicago Office Culture and Team Belonging at A&M
How would you describe the culture of your local office or team?
The Chicago, Illinois office culture is collaborative and social. Within CPI, we typically have lunches or get togethers and even host events with the larger Chicago office. Many A&Mers come into the office, which makes it easy to connect with others.

How does A&M’s core value of Fun resonate with you, and how have you seen it reflected in your work or team culture?
A&M’s mantra “like what you do, and like who you do it with” resonates with me. Beyond the projects themselves, what makes the work meaningful is the energy and camaraderie of the people around me. The environment blends challenging engagements with genuine enjoyment in collaborating with colleagues who bring out the best in each other.

What’s one thing on your bucket list for the next five years?
I love photography and one of my goals is to visit the Faroe Islands to photograph the puffins!
