As a leading expert in assisting debtors in claims management, he has worked with clients across a range of industries including automotive, retail, manufacturing, oil and gas, real estate, healthcare, and financial services.
With more than 28 years of claims management experience, Mr. Behnke brings extensive expertise in all phases of claims management, including assisting in the preparation of the statement of financial affairs and schedules of assets and liabilities, performing claims estimations, soliciting and tabulating ballots, running a mass tort claims facility for Dow Corning and making cash distributions. He led the efforts to distribute more than $118 billion in cash distributions for the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history.
Mr. Behnke has assisted numerous well-known debtors with claims management matters, including Blockbuster, Circuit City, Delphi Corp., Dow Corning, Enron, Payless ShoeSource, and Lehman Brothers.
Other notable assignments include: Aleris International, Armstrong World Industries, Babcock & Wilcox, Federated Department Stores, Federal-Mogul Corp., Lear Corporation, Seahawk Drilling, Inc., Stone Energy Corporation, Swift Energy Company, Trans World Airlines, Tronox Inc., Triad Healthcare, W.R. Grace and USG Corp.
Mr. Behnke's financial experience includes the analysis of a complex corporate structure with more than 500 legal entities and real estate partnerships, estimating trade claims using a statistical approach for a major retailer, and assisting with the analysis and development of cash projections in a major restructuring case. Furthermore, he has experience providing litigation support services, including lender liability issues, loan portfolio reviews, arbitration matters, fraud investigations and damage calculations, and testified in a $300 million late claim litigation in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy.
Before joining A&M, he was a Managing Director with the corporate finance practice of FTI Consulting. Before FTI, he was a Senior Financial Sales and Capital Analyst with Abbott Laboratories. Previously, he worked with Arthur Andersen.
Mr. Behnke earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI).
