Steven Merrill
Mr. Merrill has advised independent exploration and production (E&P) companies, integrated international energy companies, clean energy service providers and operators, and private equity–owned portfolio companies. He is known for leading complex integrations, Day 1 readiness and technical services agreement (TSA) execution, operating model design, operational and commercial due diligence, and operational improvement and value creation initiatives.
Notably, Mr. Merrill served as Integration Management Lead for the carve-out and joint venture integration of a North Sea E&P company, delivering Day 1 readiness within four months of the deal announcement, maintaining business continuity, and identifying $100 million in bottom-up synergies exceeding target. Further, he led integration and transition planning for a $300 million US-based energy efficiency services company acquired by private equity, overseeing Day 1 readiness, cross-functional work planning, TSA implementation and execution, and coordination of third-party providers for critical services such as HR and IT.
Earlier in his career at A&M, Mr. Merrill supported cost-reduction, operational improvement, and strategic planning initiatives for independent E&P operators and energy services companies across North America and international markets.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Merrill spent four years with Baker Hughes in Houston, where he worked across market intelligence and product development roles. He coordinated with global regions and corporate functions to develop a revenue strategy. In addition, as a Research, Design, and Development Engineer, he collaborated with supply chain and operations teams to design and implement new products, delivering up to 40% cost reductions while maintaining reliability.
Mr. Merrill earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from Rice University’s Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business.
