Richard Stanley is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Real Estate in London. He has 25 years of experience advising financial institutions on their stressed and distressed property loan books.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Stanley served at Ankura, and before that he headed JLL’s European Real Estate Banking Advisory Group. Mr. Stanley has advised banking, investor, and wider creditor clients holding debt secured on real estate across all asset classes in multiple jurisdictions.

Mr. Stanley dealt with the successful restructure of Corestate, a €17 billion German asset management platform, for the bondholder group. His other previous key roles include Lead Receiver on the first multi-borrower portfolio in the global financial crisis, assembling and trading a single book with over 130 assets, 85 borrowers, and 1,000 tenants at £350 million; and Receiver of high-profile assets including Grosvenor House Hotel, the Goldman Sachs European HQ, and multiple development schemes, both commercial and residential. Jointly with David Edmonds and Andrew Orr (now his colleagues here at A&M!), he led the JLL trade of Project Churchill, a £2.6 billion debt trade for Aviva.
