Paul Richards

Mr. Richards has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including energy, chemicals, financial services, utilities, real estate, hotels, industrials, waste management and telecommunications. He specializes in complex assignments for both listed and privately-owned businesses, advising senior executives and the board in relation to refinancings and/or raising new money.
Recent notable engagements include a €100 million capital raising for a Belgian infrastructure business; the restructuring of a U.K. biomass power station; the refinancing of the U.K. arm of a global car rental business via a debut £450 million fleet securitisation; advising the shareholders of a U.K. water company, which resulted in a successful £1 billion new equity investment; and the €1.7 billion stressed refinancing of one of Europe’s largest steel businesses.
Mr. Richards has long-standing relationships with a wide range of banks, private debt funds, capital solutions and special situations investors.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Richards was a Managing Director in the Special Situations Group at KPMG and an Executive Director in the Debt Advisory and Restructuring team at Rothschild & Co in London and Dubai.
Mr. Richards earned a master’s degree in economics and management from Merton College, Oxford University and a master’s degree in management from the Saïd Business School, Oxford University. He is a member of the TMA.
