Mei Zhang is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in New York. She specializes in supply chain operations, focusing on cost reduction and process improvement through manufacturing operations evaluation, strategic sourcing, procurement and supply chain logistics transformation. Ms. Zhang concentrates on due diligence, carve-out cost assessment, and synergy analysis and implementation. 

With 20+ years of high value business consulting experience across home goods and general retail, industrial manufacturing and distribution, transportation, pet/packaged food/food service, nutraceutical/pharmaceutical, personal care, utilities and communications, government, consumer electronics, and finance, Ms. Zhang has sourced over $1.5 billion in spend in 15+ categories for 20+ Fortune 500 companies and conducted numerous due diligences and synergy assessments.

Ms. Zhang has conducted multiple due diligences, synergy, carve-out, and strategy/operations improvement projects for private equity and corporate clients. With her logistics expertise, she has assessed distribution/logistics networks and evaluated fleet operations and sourced global transportation. Ms. Zhang’s recent engagements include completing a synergy and cost take out assessment on two hydraulic parts distributor businesses and identifying significant direct purchase, G&A and Freight savings opportunities that are leading to implementation. 

Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Zhang spent 2.5 years with Avon Product’s North America Sourcing & Procurement group as the Center of Excellence Senior Manager Lead. She developed and implemented best practices, coordinating cross-team collaborations and upgrading talent through training, recruitment, and employee engagement. As interim lead of the Indirect Sourcing organization she re-built the team from tactical clerical resources to strategic category management professionals. 

Previously, Ms. Zhang spent 10 years in the Management Consulting Group at Accenture as a Manager, leading multiple spend assessment and strategic sourcing initiatives with Fortune 500 clients. She worked extensively in transportation and fleet management and sourced indirect send categories. 

Ms. Zhang earned a bachelor’s degree in management science & information systems from Rutgers University School of Business and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business (specialization in strategy, leadership, and change management).
