Maisam Raza is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services in Toronto. He is a member of A&M’s Alternative Investment Services group. 

Mr. Raza brings more than 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, having held roles both in-house in private credit and at valuation advisory firms. 

Mr. Raza specializes in providing valuation and monitoring advisory services for illiquid securities and private assets to institutional investors, including pension funds, private credit, private equity, and insurance clients. His experience includes the valuation of private loans, unitranche, senior secured, subordinated, and mezzanine debt, as well as warrants, common equity, convertible debt, and preferred equity interests. 

Mr. Raza currently serves on the Financial Instruments Board of the International Valuation Standards Council, working to develop robust and harmonized global valuation standards with fellow board members and stakeholders internationally. 

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Raza was a Portfolio Manager at Golub Capital, where he led the credit monitoring and valuation function in Canada for the $90 billion private credit manager. Previously, he served as a Senior Manager at KPMG, where he provided valuation advisory services related to complex financial instruments, including private debt and derivatives. 

Mr. Raza earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Waterloo, an LLB in common law from King’s College London, and a master’s degree in finance from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management.
